<p>I promise I won't make too much fun of you at work tomorrow ;-) I actually worked in state politics (in New Jersey, of all places) back in the day, and it is shocking how much power is wielded at the state and local levels with little or no real oversight by the citizenry. Tip O'Neill said, "all politics is local." And when you think about the day-to-day impact of the decisions that are made in city halls and state capitols across the country, you realize that most people's interest in national politics is really as more of an entertaining sideshow (except for that whole war thing). Good on you Ed for taking enough interest to actually read the fine print. And to everyone else, I'd like to close with the immortal words of Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz: "I'm sorry, but if you can't be bothered to take an interest in local affairs, that's your own lookout. Energize the demolition beams..."</p>
